SLS orthotic insoles and AFO braces
Custom orthotic insoles and ankle-foot orthosis (AFO) shells produced in nylon by SLS for an orthotics clinic, from design files to finished parts.
Repeat SLS production for an orthotics clinic
An orthotics clinic sends patient-specific designs that need to become durable parts. SLS printing in nylon produces insoles and brace shells directly from those files, without moulds, so every pair can be different.
Patient-specific shapes
Every insole and brace follows its own design, with arches, heel cups and trim lines that change from patient to patient. Because the parts are produced additively, there is no tooling to change between orders.
Printed in nylon
The parts are printed by SLS in nylon, which gives thin, curved shells the strength and slight flexibility an orthosis needs. The powder-bed process needs no support structures, so the curved surfaces come out clean.
Finished parts
The photographs show white insole pairs as printed, black-finished insoles, and a pair of AFO brace shells primed on the workbench before finishing.
