Clear headlight lens covers

Replacement clear lens covers reproduced by 3D scanning the originals, modelling them in CAD, printing them in clear resin by SLA and polishing them.

Reproducing a clear automotive part

When a clear lens cover is hard to source, the original part is the best reference. We scanned it, rebuilt it as a CAD model and printed the replacement in clear resin.

Scan and measure

The original covers were photographed and measured on a grid mat, then 3D scanned to capture their curved shape.

Model and print

The scan was rebuilt as a clean CAD model and printed by SLA in clear resin, which reproduces smooth, curved surfaces better than filament processes.

Polish for clarity

Clear resin comes off the printer translucent. Sanding and polishing bring it back to a clear finish suitable for a lens cover.
